Dear diary, today there was enough mist to make me think that I had landed in the Dagobah system.

Anyone wanna rec me some anime? I've got Cowboy Bebop and one about crazy mermaids waiting on my computer right now, and I'm interested in Tsubasa Resevoir. (And having nostalgic feelings about Cardcaptor Sakura, gods help me.)

Life is crazy and busy and stuff, but I get by (with help from reading my flist).

Nothing wrong with being nostalgic for Cardcaptor Sakura! (see icon)

Ummm... Ghost in the Shell (the ones I've seen so far) are good, if you haven't already seen them.

Series: Samurai Seven!!! Love it! Wish I had the money to buy it! Wolf's Rain is also good.

Edited to add: I'd love to know what you think of Cowboy Bebop since it's one I've heard good things about but just general reviews, not someone on my flist's opinion.

I checked the website for my uni's anime club, and they've got all of them. I'll try them out one by one. I have all of Cowboy Bebop now but I haven't got to watching any of it, there's just no time...

Peacemaker Kurogane. It´s short enough, and crazy enough without making a mockery of history. I appreciate that a lot. There´s a side plotline which is sheer idiocy (taken in part from something that was happening in the manga at the same time but nobody knew yet how it would really end), but you can ignore it if you squint hard enough.

Still, what I really know about enough to make recs is Japanese live series and historical/fantasy movies. Anime not so much. Loved Sailormoon in the distant past, and I still like RK, PMK, Princess Mononoke and everything Tezuka, and that´s pretty much it.

Then again, many lives and movies I´ve enjoyed have anime counterparts, like Shinobi/Basilisk, Nodame Cantabile, G.T.O., Death Note or Onmyoji. (And Dororo, though that´s so old that I wish you luck finding it). I just find it more difficult to get into a story in anime mode than in real life mode, but for whoever anime is the right piece of cake it will probably be just as enjoyable, or more.

ps: How can you edit posts? Do you need to have a paid account?

Hmm, no sign of Peacemaker Kurogane, but I can get Nodame Cantabile and Basilisk. I saw a bit of Death Note and it didn't really grab me.

(Paid account users can edit comments, but plebs like us don't have that ability. XD)

Ah, I see. Nodame Cantabile is goofy comedy, I just found it hilarious for some reason. The live action (I don´t know about the anime). Basilisk is a tragic ninja love story.

I'm a big fan of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The movies are good too, but the series is amazing in its scope and intelligence. Plus, the music is totally rocking. It's all by Yoko Kanno, who did the music for Cowboy Bebop.

If you like Bebop, Samurai Champloo is worth a look too. Oh, and my friend is hanging over my shoulder and says I should rec you Death Note too. Haven't seen it yet but I hear very good things about it.

If you're looking for anime films, I'd suggest more or less anything by Miyazaki. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are probably the most well known, but all of his films are fantastic. Although if you see Grave of the Fireflies, be prepared to be depressed. I'm going to shut up now, I'm rambling a bit to avoid studying.

*adds Samurai 7 to list* I used to have one of the Ghost in the Shell dvds somewhere for a long-ago art project; I'll go looking for it again. I saw a bit of Death Note and it didn't really grab me.

I love Miyazaki, although I haven't seen any of those films. My primary school did Japanese and we got to watch My Neighbour Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service. I saw Howl's Moving Castle at christmas a couple of years ago and it sparked my renewed interest in anime. Even if it was very different from the book.

At the moment I'm into Fullmetal Alchemist, both the manga and the anime. You can read the manga online here. Of course there is the first anime, which is really confusing, and pretty soon branches away from the manga plot. Then there is the new anime, FMA: Brotherhood, which is only up to episode 7, I think. It is following the manga plotline closely, and is available here.

I also like Ouran High Host Club, which is very pink, and very girly.

Ah, I must remember to read that (I got to chapter 4 and was then distracted). I think I am a little bit in love with Al. XD
