Another musical comes to a close...
Mar. 20th, 2005 07:55 pm... and El reflects.
Just when I was getting into the rhythm of it, it's stopped. My body is expecting to go and play again and I've barely stopped singing the songs all afternoon (which did not go down so well with my brother... but it'll be his turn soon...)
Ask me what I have to show for it and I'll show you a program with random scribbles on it, a CD of photos, a t-shirt and a stack of photocopies 2cm thick.
But if you'd ask me what I have to remember for it...
Little bits and pieces... rejoicing at having to wear no make-up at all... half singing the songs down in the orchestra pit... working out a long and complex order of getting into the orchestra pit... reading "The Last Continent" (again) during the breaks in music... all the guys outside on Thursday night getting fake-tanned to within an inch of their lives (and it was quite cold too)... James going quite literally orange... my conductor's daughter having an Australian accent you could cut with a knife... Man with a sign saying "stop looking, you pervert" under the huge dresses... the most ominous Thud of a dais being run into... singing and dancing to the Rocky Horror soundtrack at the afterparty...
And, of course, the applause, that says "Yo, guys! We luuuuuuurrrrrrrve you!"
And in the quiet of the next few months, we will remember and smile at those memories...
... and get ready for the next one. ^_^
A few statistics:
Total number of hours El spent on the musical: 35 hours, 25 minutes (but that's just this year, I'm not sure about last year)
Total number of songs: 40, I think
Longest song: "The Small House of Uncle Thomas"
Most flats: Two
Most sharps: Seven (My Lord and Master)
Total number of bars of rest: probably a hundred, added up
Number of times El wanted to smite...
- herself: once or twice
- the conductor: a few times
- whoever wrote the music: many times
Funniest line: "English girls are so... acrobatic!" (take it in what way you will, but it was referring to poetry... that doesn't make it any better, does it?)
Cutest line: "Buddha make a miracle!"
Line El Never Wants To Hear Again, Never Ever Ever: "Blessed little EEEE-va..."
Line that made El go "ooooooh, deep": "It is a strange world in which men and women are blind to what is closest to them."
Musical next year?
Let me think about it...
HELL YEAH!!!
I hope everyone had a happy weekend!
