Dec. 1st, 2004 03:19 pmMan, I haven't updated in aaaaaaaaages. So this will be a most very long update. Sorry.
Work Experience - for those of you who don't know, there is a practice in Australia to send Year 10 students (or the equivalent in other states) to a workplace to get experience about working, blah blah blah. Generally we get put on photocopying and coffee duty. I was lucky.
Monday: Asbestos survey and filing. (and I am now very paranoid about getting asbestos poisoning, seeing as the fibres are really tiny and get into your lungs and cause horrible cancer and can't be cured...)
*smacks self with trout*
Ahhh, that's better. Thankyou.
You're welcome.
Am I having a conversation with myself?
You might be.
Right... anyway, onwards.
Tuesday: something about ergonomics in the city. And then filing. And some more filing.
Wednesday: falls prevention! I quite enjoyed this, since we got to walk around the roofs of university buildings and gripe about the lack of safety devices they have... hehehehe.
No filing that day.
Thursday: a computer survey of some sort, that involved, among other things, a 40-minute call to Sydney. Not the best day.
Oh, and more filing.
Friday: fire extinguisher drills! Hahaha! Being a bit of a pyromaniac, I had a lot of fun that morning. Although maybe having it on a 34-degree day wasn't such a good idea...
And finally - you guessed it! Filing.
So all in all it was a pretty good week - I expected much worse. The filing was boring as hell, but it had to be done and now I know everything about working a photocopier. But the nice people didn't put me on coffee duty. I also rearranged all the books and stuff in the cupboards so they're all nice and neat know - and if anyone messes them up I will be very angry. I'm a neat freak. You may have noticed.

Right, so this week has been all music practices. Except for monday, which was a driving school.
I went for my learner's permit and I passed! I can drive now! MWHAHAHAHAHA!
The only problem is that since I started driving on a manual, I probably won't be able to get the hang of an automatic. Alas, no drag racing for me.
That's probably a good thing, in retrospect.
Music practices ain't so bad, except there's this one teacher I really, really can't get on with... but stuff her. It's very unlikely she'll read this. But I really wish she'd pick something for orchestra with the woodwind in mind. For you see, we are now playing Carmen (well, parts of it) and since it was written for strings all the woodwind parts are in really bizarre keys - the clarinet part has five sharps. We're campaigning for A-clarinets, since then we will only have one flat.
Bloody strings. All they have to do is move their bows up and down and we're practically dislocating our fingers trying to play our parts. I'm going to shoot Bizet. With my bare hands.
Yeah, right...

More random things that have happened:
While searching for Mary-Sue names, I found a lovely generator for pretentious pseudo-Quenya names here, and also a great LOTR hideous plot generator here. They're very entertaining.
And then, of course, there's George Says. Fun for all the family... or maybe not. But I was amused for hours.
And if Harry Potter's your thing, this gets you to all the Harry Potter Puppet Pals, where the characters act slightly... off.
And I am *ahem* teaching myself to play Minesweeper. So far I can count all the times I've won on one hand. But, you know, these things happen.
Speaking of things that happen...
Trawling through ff.net today, and I find this *cough* lovely *cough* fic apparently featuring me: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2153371/1/
And it's got Legomance written all over it. Maybe getting my name off an Elvish name generator wasn't such a good idea. Oh well. I disown the fic, and I'm sure Amras would too if he hadn't been killed when the Sons of Feanor tried to get one of the Silmarils from Elwing and her people, I think... anyway, he's dead! Research about characters before randomly picking an Elvish name and writing them in as evil!
Although... I did like this line: Clenching her teeth, she stood on her good leg and limped to the edges of the clearing to look for wood to start a small fire.
A small fire with what, exactly? The flames the author is going to get soon?
I suppose we'll see soon enough. *evil grin*

And last but not least... I updated The Black Parody! Finally! And the Guestbook is going weird with the word limit of an entry. So if you want to give me feedback, you're best off leaving a comment here.
Read Chapter Eight
I think that's all for now. Adios.
