The Life and Times of El

Omg, how could I forget Elwing? I never really *got* Elwing and I don't think the rest of the Silm fandom does either, mainly because of the abandoning her children bit. Although we don't even know if she knew they were still alive after the Third Kinslaying, she might have no idea what happened to them (there is at least one fanart of Elwing leaping off the cliff with the Silmaril while Elrond and Elros and the Feanorians look on, which I do not believe at all). And if that's the case, she's even less likely to meekly hand over the Silmaril, which she's possessed since she was a baby and has so much family history, over to the Feanorians. And then she goes to find her husband and gives the Silmaril over to *him* to be a star, which must have been traumatic after everything she went through to keep it, and then she ends up not seeing Earendil for half the time anyway. And she never sees Elros again, and when Elrond arrives in Valinor she has no idea how he will react to her. So she makes decisions that we would find impossible or that we would not make in the same position, and lives with the consequences.
